A FIVE-STAR HOTEL INSPIRED BY NATURE

Below are a list of our outdoor activities. We also encourage you to take a look at our Destination Highlights for more possibilities, including making use of our hotel boat moored in front of the hotel.

Yoga – 1 hour – €50
We offer private yoga classes with Sarah Coleman on an individual basis. Group classes are also available every Tuesday from 6.00pm priced at €15 for residents.

Archery – 1 hour – €20
The archery field is located in Ardmore in view of the sea. There are four targets. We use fibreglass bows based on traditional recurve designs. Tuition is provided for beginners.

Sea Kayaking – 3 hours – €45/6hours – €75
This active adventure allows you to get up close to the birds, seals and dolphins of Ardmore Bay with sit-on sea kayaks. You can explore sea cliffs, caves, sea stacks and pay a visit to the Samson wreck.

Kayak and Climb – 6 hours – €75
This full day of activity combines rock climbing and sea kayaking with lunch at beautiful Goat Island.

Moonlight Paddle – 2 hours – €45
Enjoy the sounds of Ardmore Bay at night, and see phosphorescence in the water as you kayak by the light of the moon.

Rock Climbing and Abseiling: – 3 hours – €45
Experience the thrill of rock climbing and abseiling on sea cliffs close to our hotel. No prior experience is required.

ON THE WATER

Blackwater Kayaking – 3 hours €50 / 6hours – €80pp
Travel by kayak along the majestic Blackwater River, Ireland’s second largest river, taking in the scenery, wildlife and stately homes.

* River trips need a minimum of four persons. Start times vary depending on tide and conditions.

Snorkelling – 2 hours – €35
The cliffs and shoreline of Ardmore are thriving with fish, urchins, shellfish and anemones. You can even visit the Samson wreck.

Surfing for Beginners – 2 hours – €35 (group class)
Whiting Bay, which is around the corner from Ardmore, has a good break. The bay faces west and takes the predominant swells.

Surfing for Improvers – 3 hours €45 (group class)
This three-hour session is for those who want to improve or learn new skills such as duck diving, turning, or wave selection.

Surfing 1-to-1 – 90mins – €90
Our teachers are highly experienced, so can work with both beginners and the more advanced in tailored individual sessions.

IRELAND'S MOST UNIQUE GOLF HOLE

Hole-in-One Golf:  At the hotel, we have a golf tee box in the gardens allowing you to hit an environmentally-friendly golf ball towards a floating pontoon out in Ardmore Bay.

These biodegradable golf balls turn into fish food in 48 hours.

Ireland’s world-class championship courses include Old Head of Kinsale with its 300ft cliffs, and Mount Juliet  – both a 90-minute drive from Ardmore.

Fota Island Golf Club and Waterford Castle Golf are challenging, picturesque courses and within an hour’s drive of our hotel.

Local courses for a quick round include Youghal Golf ClubDungarvan Golf Club, The Gold Coast and West Waterford Golf Club.

GUIDED NATURE AND HISTORICAL TRAILS

Waterford Greenway                                                                

The Waterford Greenway is a spectacular 46 km off-road cycling and walking trail along an old railway line from the quays of Ireland’s oldest city all the way to Dungarvan. For guests looking to Get Cliff Fit, we can arrange a family picnic, local bike hire and return transfers to the nearby Dungarvan.

Guided Hiking – €150

Our guided hike in the Comeragh Mountains (40-minute drive) follows the Coumshinghuan Loop Walk with its dramatic rocky coums. This is a full day excursion, available by request for a minimum of two people.

Local Cliff Walk – Map available at spa reception

This unguided route from the hotel takes you around Ardmore Head and Ram’s Head, passing the Sampson wreck and Father O’Donnell’s Well.

Nature Walks

Andrew Malcolm is West Waterford’s best guide for nature walks – and can lead you on bespoke foraging, whale and birdwatching hikes.

Get CLIFF Fit

Get CLIFF Fit is a fitness programme originally devised for CLIFF employees to encourage daily active fitness in the lives of our staff. The goal was for staff to complete the scenic 4km Cliff Walk daily and those who reached defined milestones were awarded prizes.

The 2016 CLIFF Walk Challenge saw great success with 80 members taking part, ten of whom did over one hundred 4km -long walks throughout the year.

For 2017, we are now opening up The Cliff Walk Challenge to residents in each of our three CLIFF properties. A national charity is selected every two months to which guests can donate their sponsorship.

If you wish to participate, please follow the following steps during your stay:

STEP 2: Complete the 4km Cliff walk and record your walk by taking a selfie at Fr ‘Donnells Well & post to our Facebook page.

STEP 3: Sign-out at Reception
