Afternoon Tea is a tradition dating back to the 1840s, when the Duchess of Bedford, began enjoying a light afternoon meal of tea, sandwiches and cakes to bridge the long gap between lunch and dinner. What began as a private ritual soon became one of the most enduring pleasures of hospitality.
